President Farewell Speech

Chapter President 2000-2001

I am not much on speeches. I would prefer to thank some people not previously mentioned and some that were, for what I consider to be their contributions to our club.

First, I'd like to thank my wife Aneita. When I told her about the first meeting I attended and how much fun we had, she said "It sounds Great, and it doesn't involve guns?" Without her constant support at home and the understanding of Anna and Kayla, our daughters, as to why, for the first time, I wouldn't be attending some of their events, I couldn't have done this job.

Second, I like to thank Dean Carlton. Dean asked me, probably ten to fifteen times to come to a meeting, but I always had an excuse. He finally wore me down.

I would also like to thank the President's before me, Dean, Pat, Tom, Bob and Gary for showing me the way. Also thanks to Curt Ellis and Todd Davis for their work on the Raffle and getting thing started and Donna for her tickets sales at the last minute. Mary Meyer for her work on the Christmas parties, programs and the Home Show. She got things donated that we had always paid for, in the past.

Thanks to Carol Wade, she introduced us to Tonya, our new paid promoter for the Home Show, and for her work on the Home Show, the newsletter. Also, thanks to Mary, Carol and committee for not fearing change. Euan, newsletter, Web Master, new Board Member, Penguin and Brat dude, I am sorry I missed your party, thanks for everything. Special thanks to Tracy, she helped me through the one event that I knew very little about and had never worked.

Finally, to the Board. Donna, Pat, Phyllis, Dee and Gary made up the officers and Linda, Todd, Curt, Al, Cathy and Bill made up the balance of the board. Thank you, it wasn't always exciting but at least we had lunch.

In closing I would like to take a page from the final MASH episode; Goodbye, Farewell and Amen.
