Summer Camps
Two one-week long Children with Disabilities Summer Day Camps have been provided for more than 30 years for children in Danville and Vermilion County Illinois.
A salaried, professional, staff of camp directors, counselors, and a nurse are on hand to be sure that the children have a week filled with fun and safe activity. The camps include bowling, swimming, boating, crafts, miniature golf, games and cookouts, even a carnival.
The highlight of each week is a special trip. This might include a visit to the Indianapolis Children's Museum, a Zoo, or nearby theme park. All of these activities are done with the help of AMBUCS volunteers to give the children who need extra help a chance to truly enjoy themselves.
There are no fees or costs to attend the camp. The Danville Chapter of AMBUCS provides the funds for staff salaries, camper's meals, activities, transportation and insurance.
The camp serves approximately 85-100 children each summer. Children look forward to camp each year to renew old friendships and to make new ones.
